Whether you call it autocue, teleprompting or prompting, it is the same job: making sure the person in front of the camera or on stage says what they meant to say, without sounding like they are reading it.
WordBirds has been supporting presenters to do just that across Sydney for more than a decade. We supply the equipment, format the script, and our operator scrolls in real time throughout the event. From a piece-to-camera to a three-day conference, the aim is the same: your presenter looks prepared, sounds natural and never loses their place.
On-camera autocue
For studio and broadcast settings, to interviews and pieces to camera, we run professional on-camera prompters from 15 to 19 inches, sized to the shot and the distance your presenter is working from. High brightness monitors and special beam-splitter glass keep the script readable under studio lighting, without washing out or throwing reflections back into frame.
When the camera needs to move, we bring BabyCues. These are compact 8 to 12 inch above-lens prompters built for Steadicam, handheld cameras, jibs and cranes, light enough to be easily balanced, and clear enough to be read on the move.
Conference and stage prompting
For keynotes, awards nights, lectures and AGMs, we supply motorised glass conference panels (presidential prompters), that sit either side of the lectern, letting a speaker address the room rather than a screen. And when a different setup is required, like panel discussions or a musical performance, we run downstage monitors instead, positioned so the speaker can move freely and still find their script.
We work with your AV team, technical director and event producer on sightlines, positioning and format during setup, so that requests are resolved, and your client feels relaxed and supported, before the doors open.
Your operator on the day
This is the part that matters most, and the easiest to overlook when comparing quotes.
Anyone can put a screen in front of a presenter. What changes the outcome is the skill of the person controlling it. An experienced autocue operator doesn’t just follow the script, they follow the speaker. When someone ad libs, skips a paragraph, or takes a question from the floor, our operator is already two steps ahead, so the words are waiting when they come back on script. Your presenter can relax, knowing our team is with them every step of the way.
Live script changes are part of every event. A CEO rewrites a line ten minutes before walking on. A sponsor gets added. A running order shifts. Our operators handle it quietly in the background, without affecting the flow of the event.
This is why presenters who’ve worked with an experienced autocue operator rarely want to go back to anything less.
Script and presenter support
Our support starts well before the day itself. We review your script so it works when it’s spoken aloud, not just read on a page, then format it properly for the prompter. We also run presenters through a full rehearsal, so by the time they’re on stage, the technology is the last thing on their mind.
For teams who prompt regularly, we provide operator training so the capability sits in-house.
