The past few years have had many of us flying by the seat of our pants – us included! But sometimes, life’s most challenging moments reveal our true purpose. For us at WordBirds, losing our mentor became the catalyst for building something extraordinary.
For those who don’t know our story, or haven’t had a chance to connect with us recently, we wanted to share what drives our approach to teleprompting and why we believe authentic presentation support changes everything for Australian productions.

We learned the foundations of teleprompting from working for someone with a reputation of being ‘the best in the business’. He didn’t just teach us technical skills; he showed us the subtle art of our profession.
His expertise was evident in challenging situations like ‘The Voice, Australia’ Grand Finale – where live television demanded split-second adaptability and flawless execution. He taught us that great teleprompting isn’t just about displaying words on a screen – it’s about understanding presenters, anticipating their needs, and becoming an invisible part of their success story.
He inspired us daily with insights that only the keenest observer would pick up. The way he’d adjust scrolling speed based on a presenter’s breathing pattern. How he’d position equipment to maintain natural eye contact with the audience. His ability to make last-minute script changes seamlessly during live broadcasts.
When he passed away suddenly, we were devastated. We lost our mentor, boss, and friend in a heartbeat.
But we didn’t lose our inspiration, and his influence stayed with us.
WordBirds Was Born from Love
We created WordBirds out of the love of teleprompting that our mentor had instilled in us. We decided to continue sharing his approach with the Australian television and events industry – revolutionising how presenters shine on stage and on screen through the art of professional teleprompting.
